Amazing Navajo pottery piece hand made by Nancy Ann Chilly (Yazzie) . She is one of three of the last Navajo potters doing this kind of work. She is Dine and lives in Utah. This bowl is a traditional piece with Kokopelli Design. Her pieces are all hand done. The clay is harvested locally, coil-built, incised with Sgraffito method and traditionally fired in the earth. She paints the beautiful designs and covers them in pinon (pine) pitch in the traditional manner to give a gloss. It is signed “NAC” on the bottom and is absolutely lovely. It is so beautiful to hold. An exquisite piece of Native American pottery at its finest.
