It utilizes the heat of vaporization when water evaporates, and is particularly effective when exposed to wind. It is worn as a cooling vest, worn on the outermost layer to receive wind.

You soak it in water for 1-2 minutes, drain the excess water gently, and then wear it. The cooling effect can last for about 5-10 hours depending on the environment.

The cooling garment using HyperKewl(TM) technology was officially adopted by the US Army due to its ability to cool the body, mobility, durability, and convenience. HyperKewl(TM) has special functions within its fiber-like material itself, so it does not contain anything else, such as a water-absorbing sponge, inside the fabric.
