Rare collector’s piece from the golden era of Digimon

Powers on, but emits a high-pitched frequency when batteries are inserted. Not sure what’s causing it.
Screen is intact, but no further testing has been done beyond turning it on.
Minor cosmetic wear from storage over the years (literally only used a few times as a kid).
Battery compartment is clean and includes the original cover.
